Missions in Action

As Christians, we believe that God calls us to reach out and to care for the needs of others. Our Missions Committee is busy year-round providing opportunities for our congregation to serve — both in our local community and internationally.

  • Food Donations needed for Titan Children's Fund – The Titan Children's Fund sends a bag of food home with needy students in the South Henry School District (all grade levels) each Friday afternoon so that they will have something to eat over the weekend. The Fund sends enough food home for the student to have two breakfasts, two lunches, and one snack. The group is currently sending food home with 106 students every weekend.
Donations of breakfast, lunch, and snack items are needed. Some suggested items are pancake mix (add water), syrup, cereal, Pop Tarts, mini-muffins, muffin mix (add water), tuna, canned chicken, peanut butter, canned soup, 1-lb. boxes of spaghetti, cans of pasta sauce, Spaghetti O's, and applesauce. A complete list is available in the Welcome Center at church. Do not purchase any foods in glass containers. A donation box is located in the Welcome Center.
  • Heaven's Bread Basket, a local food pantry located in Lewisville that serves families in this area, continues to need and accept food donations. A box is available in the Welcome Center for donations.
  • Box Tops for Education and Campbell's Labels – We collect Campbell's soup labels for Red Bird Mission in Kentucky, and box tops for the Westminster Community Center in New Castle.
  • Once a year we partner with other churches, businesses, and the town of Spiceland to participate in a "Spiceland Cares Day." This is usually one Saturday in May. Previously, volunteers have planted flowers around the Spiceland Town Hall, painted curbs, pulled weeds, as well as going to a number of homes in the community to clean windows, do yard work, etc. for those who are not able to do such tasks themselves. We need volunteers and projects.
  • As active members of Friends United Meeting and former members of Indiana Yearly Meeting, we actively support a number of missions: Quaker Haven Church Camp; White's Residential Services; the Choctaw, Kickapoo, and Mesquakie Friends Centers; Belize Boys School; Friends Theological College in Kenya as well as Kaimosi Hospital in Africa. We also support Friends Fellowship Community.
