One Question After Another -- Episode 3

One Question After Another -- Episode 3

We are in our third month of looking at a list of questions intended to stimulate our thinking and hearts as we live out our Christian faith. Historically, early Friends called these questions “Queries.” They were commonly used during worship to help turn hearts and minds toward God’s thoughts. These questions are an excellent way for us to consider our faith journey. I plan to address these questions (queries) one at a time in our 2023 newsletters. I pray that you meditate sincerely on these questions in a way that brings closeness and confidence to your Christian walk.

Here is the question for May: "Do you love one another as you become followers of Jesus Christ?"

In John 13:34, Jesus leaves his followers with a new commandment. Jesus specifically tells His followers to love one another. This leads us to ask, “How do we love one another?” Jesus' example makes this clear. He gave Himself up for you and me. Following the example of Jesus leaves us with the significant challenge of showing our love for one another by giving ourselves up for each other.

I will end this month’s challenging question with another question. Does the world know you are a disciple by how you love others?

“By this, all will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”  (John 13:35)
